About Jyotishya

Jyotishya is a free weekly Vedic horoscope, compared side by side with Western and Chinese (BaZi) astrology. It's an independent science project: it applies each tradition's rules exactly and shows the working behind every result, without interpreting it.

Why it exists

Most horoscopes give a verdict and hide how they got there. Jyotishya does the opposite. Each day's rating comes with its arithmetic: which nakshatra the Moon is in, how it counts from your birth star, which house it occupies from your natal Moon, and the points each rule adds. Western and Chinese astrology are read the same way, so you can see where three traditions agree and where they don't.

Seeing the working also makes the rules testable. The quick check asks how yesterday went before showing that day's forecast, and scores each system against your answers with a standard statistical test. The blind diary hides the forecasts completely for 60 to 120 days, then compares them with your ratings. Controlled studies, such as Shawn Carlson's double-blind test published in Nature in 1985, have not found predictive power in astrology; Jyotishya lets anyone run a small test of their own.

How it's made

Who runs it

Jyotishya is made and maintained by an independent developer, not a company or an astrology service. It's free to use; ads on the site help pay for hosting. Nothing is for sale, and no reading or consultation is offered.
