What's changed
Every change that affects what you see or how a result is worked out, newest first. Corrections found by checking the calculations against their sources are listed with the rest.
19 October 2026
- Six new method notes from a review of the calculations against their sources: where the Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika tables come from; the Moon's Ashtakavarga table and how to check it; why the chance rate in the quick check isn't 50%; how many days a blind diary needs; how accurate the planet positions are; and where the traditions disagree.
- Blind diary: the short-diary message now says what 60 days can and can't detect, instead of calling 60 days meaningful.
- The Moon-sign pages are kept out of search results for now, because they share most of their wording.
- This page.
- A worked example: a made-up person's chart, birth panchang and one full week rated by all three systems, with every day's working.
- The Ashtakavarga reference line now calls its more-than-4 threshold the common modern reading, not a classical rule (Phaladeepika gives no number).
- Month pages, starting with October 2026: every planet sign change, retrograde station, eclipse and quarter Moon in the month, the Moon's sign changes and each day's tithi and nakshatra, listed under Sky today. A new one appears each month.
- Degrees within a sign are rounded down, so a planet at 29.97° shows as 29.9°, not 30.0°.
16 October 2026
- Home page: two short notes for first-time visitors on what Jyotishya is for.
15 October 2026
- Birth chart: an 'At birth' section with the birth panchang (tithi, weekday from sunrise, yoga, karana), the dasha balance at birth, sign lords, the ayanamsa and all nine major periods; the rising sign now shows its nakshatra and pada.
- Nakshatra pages: the Moon's visits for the year with entry and exit times, the Sun's passage, and the dasha balance worked for each pada. Moon-sign pages: the Moon's visits and every planet's entries and exits for the year.
- Sky today: a public page with the Moon, panchang and planets now, the week's changes and the next 30 days, rebuilt daily.
- A computed diagram in each method note. About, Contact and Privacy pages, a site menu, and an analytics on/off control in the footer.
11 October 2026
- Glossary: literal meanings of the Sanskrit terms and what the classical texts say, with chapter and verse, or plainly where no classical rule was found.
9 October 2026
- A glossary of every term the app uses, linked from the words themselves. The day clock explains Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika.
8 October 2026
- Quick check corrected: each system is now tested against its own chance rate with Fisher's exact test (it was tested against 50%), and gets a verdict only after 10 calls of its own.
- BaZi corrected: for births between 23:00 and midnight, the hour stem now comes from the next day's stem.
7 October 2026
- Day clock: each system's rule through the day on a 24-hour dial, with a text timeline.
5 October 2026
- Month ahead: a calendar of all three systems' ratings.
4 October 2026
- Jyotishya launched: weekly Vedic, Western and Chinese ratings with the working shown, the kundali in North and South Indian style with Navamsa and dashas, the quick check, the blind diary and the week chart.
