Sky today: the Moon, panchang and planets
The sky right now, the same for everyone: no birth details needed. The page is rebuilt each day (in UTC); when it opens, your browser works everything out again for this moment and in your time zone (and every 10 minutes while it stays open). Nothing is sent anywhere.
As of Thu 15 Oct, 03:10 (UTC, when this page was built)

How each value is worked out
- Positions: the Sun, Moon and planets from Astronomy Engine (apparent geocentric longitude, ecliptic of date), the same code as the app. Sidereal (Vedic) = tropical − Lahiri ayanamsa; tropical (Western) is measured from the March equinox. Rahu is the Moon's mean north node, Ketu the point opposite.
- Nakshatra and pada: sidereal longitude ÷ 13°20′ gives the nakshatra (1–27); each is split into four padas of 3°20′. All 27 nakshatras.
- Tithi: (Moon − Sun) ÷ 12°. A difference of two longitudes, so the ayanamsa cancels.
- Yoga: (Sun + Moon, both sidereal) ÷ 13°20′.
- Karana: (Moon − Sun) ÷ 6°, half a tithi.
- Weekday: from your calendar date, with its traditional ruling planet (Sunday the Sun, Monday the Moon, and so on). Panchangs start the day at sunrise and name the tithi, nakshatra and yoga in force then; this page shows what is in force now.
- End times: found by stepping ahead 20 minutes at a time and then halving the step down to the second.
- Retrograde: a planet whose longitude is lower a day later. The mean nodes always move backwards.
- Moon phase: the Moon's tropical longitude minus the Sun's (0° new, 180° full) and the lit fraction of its disc.
- Next 7 days: exact quarter Moons, and each graha's sidereal sign change, found the same way as the end times.
- BaZi day pillar: the 60-day stem-and-branch cycle for your calendar date, counted from a Jia Zi day (1 October 1949). How BaZi pillars are counted.
Sunrise-based times (Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, Gulika) depend on where you are, so they're in the app's day clock rather than here.
