Tara bala counted from Bharani

For a person whose Moon was in Bharani at birth, each day's tara comes from counting Bharani as 1 to the nakshatra the Moon is in that day: count = ((day − 1) mod 27) + 1, tara = count mod 9. Scores are those Jyotishya uses. The tara bala formula explained.

count mod 9TaraDay nakshatras (count)Score
1Janma (lit. birth)Bharani (1), Purva Phalguni (10), Purva Ashadha (19)0
2Sampat (lit. wealth)Krittika (2), Uttara Phalguni (11), Uttara Ashadha (20)+1
3Vipat (lit. danger)Rohini (3), Hasta (12), Shravana (21)−1
4Kshema (lit. well-being)Mrigashira (4), Chitra (13), Dhanishta (22)+1
5Pratyak (lit. obstacle)Ardra (5), Swati (14), Shatabhisha (23)−1
6Sadhana (lit. achievement)Punarvasu (6), Vishakha (15), Purva Bhadrapada (24)+1
7Naidhana (lit. destruction)Pushya (7), Anuradha (16), Uttara Bhadrapada (25)−2
8Mitra (lit. friend)Ashlesha (8), Jyeshtha (17), Revati (26)+1
0 (9)Parama Mitra (lit. best friend)Magha (9), Mula (18), Ashwini (27)+1

Worked example: Moon in Purva Ashadha → count 19; 19 mod 9 = 1 → Janma, score 0.

Vimshottari dasha starting point

With the Moon in Bharani at birth, the first mahadasha is Venus. Balance at birth = (1 − fraction of Bharani already travelled by the Moon) × 20 years. Fraction travelled = (Moon longitude − 13.33°) ÷ 13.33°. The sequence then continues Sun → Moon → Mars → Rahu → Jupiter → Saturn → Mercury → Ketu. How the dasha periods are calculated.
